Download Full Report

This report summarizes notable events discussed on jihadist Web forums during the first half of October 2014. Following are the main points covered in the report:

  • Against the backdrop of an attack by coalition forces, led by the United States, against the Islamic State, the jihadist discourse denouncing the participating countries increases. Several members of the organization threaten to attack Western targets, including those of the United States and Britain.
Sheikh Abu Ubayda Yusuf al-Inabi, as senior member of Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, and other jihad leaders express solidarity with the mujahideen being attacked by coalition forces in Iraq and Syria, and call on Muslims to oppose these forces.
  • Meanwhile, the Islamic State continues its psychological warfare against the West through documentation of the emotional and property damage caused to Muslim residents in the region, and through a plea by captive British journalist, John Cantlie, to Western countries, especially the United States, to end their hopeless war against the mujahideen.
