Cyber Terrorism

The Next Generation of Warfare is in the Cyber Arena

The interconnectedness, open access, and potential reach large have transformed the internet into a major operational vector for terrorists and other extremists. In recent years, terror organizations, networks, and operatives have participated in a wide variety of activities online, including: fundraising, radicalization and recruitment, intelligence gathering, and general communications. In addition to their general use of the internet, terror groups have begun leveraging the internet as a tool for carrying out cyber attacks.

Recognizing the increasing danger of terrorist exploitation of the cyberspace, CTS developed the Cyber Terrorism service. Through this service, CTS actively monitors the online activity of terror organizations and networks. Drawing on a diverse team of academic researchers, experienced professionals from security forces, and a global network of expert fellows, CTS is able to craft reports identifying major trends and potential vulnerabilities in cyberspace.
