The European Commission’s Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs

The European Commission’s Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs (DG HOME) involves two ICT researchers in a study on  drone threats to metropolitan areas.

Ely Karmon & Uri Ben Yaakov

“The European Commission’s Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs (DG HOME) recently launched a ‘Study of different metropolitan approaches in countering the threats posed by unmanned aircraft systems (UAS)’.  The study is being carried out by a consortium consisting of ICF (lead), the Peace Research Institute of Oslo (PRIO), Ventura Associates and local experts in Member States. The consortium has been tasked with, among other things, mapping the relevant legislative landscape at national level and examining different metropolitan counter-UAS approaches.

Dr. Ely Karmon and Mr. Uri Ben Yaakov are responsible for carrying out the case-study of the Tel Aviv metropolitan area in Israel.

This study constitutes an important contribution to EU policy development and the practical work of securing metropolitan spaces from the threats posed by non-cooperative drones.”
