Prof. Lt. Col. (Ret.) Pinchas Halpern is PH graduated from Tel Aviv University Faculty of Medicine in 1977. He first trained in Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine at the Israeli Navy Diving Medical Institute (1979-82), in Intensive Care at Rambam Medical Center (1982-84), and at Ohio State University (1987-88). He was Vice-Chair of Anesthesia and Intensive Care at the Tel Aviv Medical Center (1990-93) and Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine, TAMC (1993-2020). He is a clinical associate professor of anesthesia, critical care, and emergency medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, Tel Aviv University, where he founded the Emergency Medicine Division and was its first chair. He is also a Visiting Professor at the University of Eastern Piedmont, Italy, and a Staff Member of the European Master of Disaster Medicine. PH is the Past President of the Israeli Association for Emergency Medicine. He was highly instrumental in creating the specialty of Emergency Medicine in Israel, which was officially approved in 1999. He was a long-time Member of the Magen David Adom National EMS (MDA) Board of Directors (2001-2015) and is the current Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee of MDA. He was a Member of the Board of Directors of the World Association for Disaster and Emergency Medicine (WADEM). He is currently CMO at Sanara Capital VC Fund in Israel and CMO at MindView, Flight Medical, and Quick, among other high-tech companies in Israel. He has been Chief National Diving Physician at the National Bureau of Sports Diving (since 1992) at the Ministry of Sports, a member of the National Advisory Boards of Medical Logistics and Digital Medicine, and a past Trauma and Emergency Medicine Board member. He is a medical advisor to 6 biotech companies. Pinny’s unique interests and expertise include disaster and military medicine, technology development and application in disasters and combat medicine, pain management, emergency department design, system optimization, and community preparedness for disaster and war.
