Dr. Lt. Col. (Ret.) Ronit Marzan

Dr. Ronit Marzan is currently a lecturer at the Jaffa–Tel Aviv Academic College. She previously served as a lecturer at the School of Political Science, National Security Program at the University of Haifa from 2012 to 2024, and as a research fellow at the Chaikin Chair of Geostrategy at the same university between 2014 and 2024. From 2018 to 2019, she also lectured in the elite “Havatzalot” Program within the Department of Middle Eastern History at the University of Haifa, training intelligence researchers for the Intelligence Corps.

Dr. Marzan is a consultant and lecturer for security, public, and private organizations and has been active in this role since 2012. From 1993 to 2012, she served as an expert in Arabic language and culture at the Prime Minister’s Office. Earlier in her career, from 1980 to 1993, she was an intelligence officer in Unit 8200 and served as the commander of the Pre-Military School of the Intelligence Corps in Haifa.

Her areas of expertise include Palestinian society and politics, Arab youth during the Arab Spring, and the political rhetoric of Qatar. She is a noted researcher of Israeli-Arab and Palestinian political discourse and societal dynamics. Her work draws on decades of experience in intelligence and academia, bridging applied and theoretical perspectives.

Dr. Marzan holds a Ph.D. from the Department of Middle Eastern History at the University of Haifa (2010–2014), where she received an excellence award for her dissertation. She also holds an M.A. in Political Science (1990–1991) and a B.A. from the Department of Middle Eastern History and Department of Arabic Language and Literature (1978–1980), both from the University of Haifa. She earned a Teaching Certificate from the Open University in 1985.

Her publications include her master’s thesis, The Use of Religion by Hajj Amin al-Husseini to Advance Political and National Goals in the Process of Building the Palestinian Nation (University of Haifa, 2007), and a book published in 2016 by Resling titled Yasser Arafat – Rhetoric of a Lone Leader. She is also expected to publish two additional works, one on Arab youth during the Arab Spring and the other on Palestinian youth.
