Dr. Col. (Res.) Anan Wahabi

Dr. Anan Wahabi is a research scholar at the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism (ICT) and a lecturer in Counter-Terrorism at Reichman University. He also teaches Political Science at the University of Haifa. A Colonel (Res.) in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Dr. Wahabi brings extensive operational and academic experience in strategy and countering regional terrorism.
He began his military service as a paratrooper, later transferring to the Intelligence Corps. He served as Commander of the Information Operations Unit and subsequently as Chief Instructor at the Israeli National Defense College, where he was responsible for educating high-ranking national and international students on complex and evolving global security challenges.
Dr. Wahabi earned his Ph.D. from the University of Haifa with a dissertation on Islamic terrorism targeting Israel. During that time, he served in the IDF and began lecturing at the University of Haifa in 2010, a position he holds to this day. Between 2010–2013, he served in the Prime Minister’s Office, focusing on regional strategy.
In addition to his academic and military roles, Dr. Wahabi is deeply involved in civil society. He is a member of the Druze Community Planning Forum in Israel, a founder of the “Carmel Runners” group, and a founder of the “Tamuz Association” — a philanthropic organization. He is active in shaping public opinion, particularly in Arab media, and contributes to various sectors of Israeli society.
Dr. Wahabi brings a unique combination of scholarly insight and field experience in strategy and decision-making, counter-terrorism and insurgency, and information and psychological operations.
