Commander (Ret.) Gadi Eshed

Commander (Ret.) Gadi Eshed is a Fellow at the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism (ICT) at Reichman University, Herzliya, Israel.

Commander (Ret.) Gadi Eshed retired in October 2016 after 37 years of distinguished service in the Israel Police. Throughout his career, he specialized in investigations, intelligence, research, and training. He held various leadership roles, including commanding Tel Aviv’s elite Central Unit for five years, leading Israel’s fight against severe and organized crime. In this role, he and his teams were involved in solving complicated investigations, including murder cases, human trafficking, international drug trafficking, severe violent crimes, money laundering, and organized crime.

Commander (Ret.) Eshed also served as the head of the Israel Police’s Research Department and Deputy Head of the Intelligence Branch. These appointments involved processing, analyzing, and researching large volumes of intelligence information in order to extract relevant insights and present them to the Police Commissioner and the Minister of Public Security.

His international experience includes serving as the Israel Police representative in the Netherlands and Western Europe, where he worked to enhance international cooperation in the fight against cross-border crime and participated in numerous international investigations.

Commander (Ret.) Gadi Eshed specializes in intelligence and investigations, organized crime, cross-border crime, law enforcement operations, and the strategic analysis of criminal phenomena.

During his career, Commander (Ret.) Eshed  conducted research and authored numerous academic articles published in prominent law reviews. He has published nine academic articles, four of which have been frequently cited in judiciary decisions, including rulings of Israel’s Supreme Court and the High Court of Justice of Appeals for the Military Forces.
