Brig. Gen. (Ret.) Gadi Zohar

Brig. Gen. (Ret.) Gadi Zohar is a Fellow at the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism (ICT) at Reichman University, Herzliya. He served for over 30 years in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), holding key intelligence and command roles. From 1991 to 1995, he served as Head of the Civil Administration in the West Bank and was a senior member of the Israeli delegation that negotiated the Gaza-Jericho Agreement.

Prior to that, Brig. Gen. Zohar served as an intelligence attaché at the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C., founded and headed the Terror Department within the Intelligence Corps, and commanded Unit 504, one of the IDF’s key human intelligence units. Earlier in his career, during the Yom Kippur War, he served as the adjutant to then Chief of the General Staff, General David Elazar.

Following his retirement from the IDF in 1996, Brig. Gen. Zohar co-founded and served as Managing Director of the security firm NETACS Ltd, a position he held until 2012. In addition to his ongoing work in national security and intelligence, he serves as Director at the Israeli Intelligence Commemoration Association and is Head of the 504 Unit Alumni Association.

Over the course of his career, Brig. Gen. Zohar also gained significant experience within the Israel National Police, retiring as Deputy Commissioner. He held several high-level operational and leadership positions in law enforcement and combat units, contributing to both national security and public safety. His roles included command over elite IDF and police units and managing complex, multidisciplinary teams and systems.

Brig. Gen. Zohar holds a B.A. in Middle East Studies and Geography from Tel Aviv University and is a graduate of the IDF Academy for Senior Field Officers and various other military and intelligence programs. He speaks fluent Hebrew, Arabic, and English. He is married to Nili and is the father of three children and the grandfather of eight.
