Dr. Col. (Res.) Shuki Amrani
Dr. Col. (Res.) Shuki Amrani is the Chairman of the Tovanot company, which specializes in Local Government and Planning and Construction issues. Prior to this position he served as Director General of the Ministry of the Interior.
Dr. Amrani holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Bar Ilan University, an MA in International Relations (Cum Laude) from Bar Ilan University and an additional MA in Social Sciences from Haifa University.
Dr. Amrani is a lecturer on municipal issues and head of a professional training program in planning and construction at Bar Ilan University, a member of the Committee for the Examination of Appointments under the Government Companies Act and volunteered as chairman of Ze’ela- an association focusing on strengthening Israel’s community.
After serving in the IDF for 24 years, Dr. Amrani held multiple executive positions in the government for the following 21 years. Within those years, he served as the Director General of the Ministry of Interior and the chairman of the National Planning and Construction Council in 2013 to 2015.
Dr. Amrani was head of multiple public committees and was a partner in promoting important public service reforms. A few of his positions included: Chairman of the Committee for Security Installations; Chairman of the Ben Gurion Airport planning and construction Committee; Chairman of the Central District planning and construction Committee; Head of the Government’s Team for Economic Development in the Minority Sector; Chairman of the Public Committee for the Establishment of an Academy for Local Authority; and Director of a training courses for directors in local authorities for emergencies, on behalf of the Ministry of Defense.
During his public service, he was awarded a certificate of appreciation by the Ometz Association for promoting good administration and public transparency.
After retiring from active military service in the IDF, he later served in the reserves as head of the Emergency Preparedness Audit team for another 23 years. During that time, he served as the head of a committee to improve auditing and implementing policies in the IDF Personnel Division.
Dr. Amrani is the author of two books: “The Druze- Between Community Nation and State”, published by Chaikin Chair for Geostrategy, Haifa University; and “Ethics and Auditing in the Israeli Public Service”, which was Published by the Institute of Internal Auditors in Israel. He has also written articles on topics related to public policy and municipalities in emergency situations.
