Prof. Gadi Shaked

Prof. Gadi Shaked has served as the Head of the Trauma Unit at Soroka Medical Center in Be’er Sheva since 1999. He is a senior attending in Soroka’s Department of General Surgery and is a Professor of Surgery at Faculty of Health Sciences at Ben-Gurion University, Beer Sheva, Israel.

A graduate of the medical school in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Ben-Gurion University, he also completed the General Surgery residency program at Soroka in 1993. Dr. Shaked spent 2 years (1994-1996) as a clinical fellow in Trauma and Critical Care in Washington Hospital Center, Washington D.C, USA. (Including research at the NIH in Bethesda, MD).

Gadi Shaked is still in an active reserve service (Lieutenant Colonel) in the IDF Medical Corps (669 Air Rescue and Evacuation Unit) and is a member and consultant in several institutional, military, and national committees and academic societies. He is a member of the Israel medical Association, The Israeli Surgical Association and the Israeli Trauma Society.

Dr. Shaked is a co-author in about 95 peer reviewed academic publications. Prof. Shaked teaches medical students and residents in their general surgery and trauma clinical studies. He engages in clinical and basic research and presents them at international and local medical conferences.
