LTC Edwin Minges
Lieutenant Colonel Edwin “Les” Minges is the 2025 Army War College Fellow at the International Counter-Terror Institute in Herzliya, Israel. He is an Armor Officer in the United States Army and a 2005 graduate of the United States Military Academy.
His command and combat leadership assignments include Armor Platoon Leader (Iraq), Armor and Reconnaissance Company Commander (Iraq), Headquarters Company Commander (Iraq and Kuwait), and Combined Arms Battalion Commander.
His operational assignments include Mechanized Infantry Company Executive Officer (Iraq), Headquarters Company Executive Officer, Combined Arms Battalion Executive Officer (Kuwait and Jordan), Armored Brigade Operations Officer, and Armored Division Operations Officer.
LTC Minges has served in a variety of Army, Joint, Multinational, and U.S. Army Major Command positions over his career. His experience includes serving as a Board Recorder at the U.S. Army Secretariat, Land Logistics Standardization Officer at the NATO Standardization Office, Aide and Military Assistant to the NATO Deputy Chairman, and Aide to the Commander of the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command.
His greatest professional pride is the Valorous Unit Citation earned by his Cavalry Troopers during the Battle of Taramiyah, Iraq in February 2007. He will never forget the valor, selflessness, and fearless commitment of all those he knew, led, and fought alongside.
His education includes a BS in Geography, Economics, and Politics from The United States Military Academy and an MA in National Security Studies from the U.S. Naval War College. His military education includes the Armor Basic Course, and Armor Captain’s Career Course, Scout and Cavalry Leader’s Courses as well as Joint and Combined Warfighting School.
His professional research interests include the military use of subterranean structure and Middle East Regional Security.
