Brigadier General (Res.) Nitzan Nuriel

Brig. Gen. (Res) Nitzan Nuriel is the former director of the Counter-Terrorism Bureau of at the Prime Minster’s office (2007-2012).

Brig. Gen. (Res) Nuriel was born in Haifa, Israel on August 25th, 1959. He joined the IDF in September 1977 and was assigned to the infantry crops “GOLANI” and served in all commanding position up to a deputy division commander.

In 1994 Nuriel was appointed commander of a territorial brigade in the West Bank. In the course of this assignment he planned and commanded the evacuation from Nablus. In 1997 he became the deputy commander of the Gaza strip division and in 1998 he was appointed to j-3 of the Northern Command. In the course of this assignment he took part in the planning and command of the retreat from southern Lebanon and the new deployment of the northern border.

In 2001 he was appointed to a Military Attaché at the Embassy of Israel in Washington, DC. He served as the liaison between the Israeli Defense Forces and the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Special Operations Command, FEMA and the Homefront Command.
His last assignment was a special P.M for the IDF with SOCOM and JFCOM. And got the Legion of Merit from the President of U.S.A for his excellent job. During the second Lebanon war he was a deputy division commander at the 91 division.

After he retired from is military service Mr. Nitzan Nuriel joins to the Israeli National Security Council and billed up all the concept of crises management at the government level. on 1/12/2007 he nominated as Director Counter Terrorism Bureau.
Under his responsibility he needs to devolve a national policy and fully implementation for cyber, borders protection, international corporations, border crossing, cargo security, aviation security, and advanced technology for the public security.
Brig. Gen. (Res.) Nuriel present Israel at the ESRIF (2008-2010) project and in many working groups.
Brig. Gen. (Res.) Nuriel spurted the winter Olympics games at Canada, established many red teams, and managed many international war game, and round table exercises.

Brig. Gen. (Res.) Nitzan Nuriel holds a bachelors degree and master’s degree in political science and national security from the University of Tel-Aviv and the University of Haifa, respectively. Brig. Gen. Nuriel and his wife Tslila have two children – Noam and Amit.
