Mr. Brian Dodwell

Brian Dodwell is the Director of the Combating Terrorism Center at West Point and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Sciences, U.S. Military Academy, West Point. He has served at the CTC since 2010 and spent four years as the Deputy Director prior to assuming his current position in 2018.

Mr. Brian Dodwell has conducted research on various topics, to include Islamic State affiliates, foreign fighters, jihadi terrorism in the United States, and U.S. homeland security challenges. He works directly with operational units on key issue areas. Mr. Dodwell teaches courses on terrorism, counterterrorism, and homeland security, and regularly lectures to intelligence and law enforcement community audiences. Prior to joining the Combating Terrorism Center, Mr. Dodwell was the Operations Branch Chief at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security National Exercise Division, which assesses interagency counterterrorism strategy and policy at senior levels across the U.S. government. He previously served as a counter-proliferation analyst supporting the Defense Threat Reduction Agency. Mr. Dodwell holds a M.A. in Security Studies from the Georgetown University Security Studies Program and a B.A. in Political Science from Wake Forest University
