Prof. Gideon Aran

Prof. Gideon Aran is a Research Fellow at the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism (ICT),Reichman University, Herzliya. Aran is a professor (emeritus) of Sociology & Anthropology at The Hebrew University, Jerusalem. His special fields of academic interest are Religion on the one hand, and Social Movements, Cults, Extremism and Violence, on the other hand. In recent years the focus of his research and writing is (Jewish, Muslim, and North American Protestant) Radical Religiosity and Political Violence, with an emphasis on Terrorism. Aran specializes in the field of research methods, particularly Participant Observation.
